The Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Crescent Movement to which all national societies adhere:
Humanity
Impartiality
Neutrality

Unity
Universality
The American Red Cross is part of a network of more than 150 national societies. The Federation and the ICRC have a worldwide network that helps in international relief during armed conflict or natural disaster.
Red Cross relief efforts for victims of disaster and armed conflict are based on international humanitarian law and a set of principles: (see above)
The Red Cross principles of neutrality and impartiality allow it to work within the confines of prisoner of war camps and detention centers.
The Red Cross monitors all relief materials from the point of donation to the recipient and is accountable for appropriate and effective use.
Components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement have been awarded Nobel Peace Prizes.
International Tracing:
When family members have been separated from their family members in another country by war, civil disturbances, natural disasters, and other calamities, the Red Cross will provide tracing services. This includes holocaust tracing services, which is managed in the Holocaust Tracing and War Victims Center in Baltimore, which has access to the records of hundreds of thousands of people lost during the Holocaust.
