50/50 Tickets!
The Clearfield-Jefferson Chapter is currently selling 50/50
tickets, with the drawing to be held August 2, 2008 at 10:00
pm at the conclusion of the Clearfield County Fair. Tickets
are available at both offices of the Clearfield-Jefferson
Chapter of the American Red Cross. For more information,

2006-2007 Clearfield-Jefferson Chapter
Statistics
  • We responded to 38 residential fires, offering comfort and emergency needs
    to families in crisis.
  • Because of those 38 fires, the chapter provided emergency assistance in
    the form of food, shelter, clothing to 93 people.
  • 2,756 people in the community have been trained in First Aid, CPR and
    other lifesaving techniques.
  • 57 members of the Armed Forces and their family members received care,
    support, financial and emergency communication services.
  • 60 teens and pre-teens have gained childcare skills through our babysitter
    training classes.
  • 6,313 units of blood were collected.
  • 1,507 area children participated in our "Masters of Disaster" Program to
    educate children about disaster preparedness.

response to the China Earthquake
On Monday, May 12, a major earthquake, measuring 7.9 on the
Richter scale, jolted southwestern China's Sichuan Province.
Hundreds of aftershocks followed in the same area.
Thousands of people died or are missing, and more than 270,000
were injured. The earthquake left an estimated five million people
homeless.

On May 2, 2008, Cyclone Nargis swept across southern
Myanmar, with high winds, heavy rain and flood water
claiming thousands of lives and damaging hundreds of
thousands of homes.

Fradulent Email Alert!
Currently, a fraudulent email posing as the American Red Cross is soliciting members of
the public. The email describes the sender as “Madelyn Cox no-reply@redcrossaidinfo.us”.
This is NOT a legitimate email. Do not give your personal information to this email. This
and other such abuses are immediately brought to the attention of American Red Cross’
legal department. We are alerting the public as well, to ensure that donors’ personal
contact details are not compromised.
Only American Red Cross and its local Red Cross Chapters are authorized to send communications or appeals to the public
in American Red Cross’ name. If you receive and doubt the authenticity of any email from the Red Cross, contact us and we
will verify its legitimacy for you.
The American Red Cross is not a government agency and all Red Cross disaster assistance is free thanks to the
generosity of people like you. The value of your donation is increased by the fact that the ratio of volunteer Red Cross
workers to paid staff is almost 36 to one. Contributions to the American Red Cross, a tax-exempt organization under
Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, are deductible for computing income and estate taxes.
